Music is a higher revelation than philosophy

– Ludwig Van Beethoven

Kevin McKeever was raised in St. Louis and was active in Music from a young age, participating in a local children’s choir and beginning piano lessons at age 6. A decade later he was competing in high level classical piano competitions, and singing in choirs with the St. Louis Symphony. After a top placement in the AMSA International Piano Competition in 1990, Kevin was invited to peform as part of the winner’s recital in Carnegie Hall the following year.

Media exposure from his AMSA win led to his first summer performing ragtime piano at Six Flags’ Miss Kitty’s Saloon, and also accompanying the music-theater inspired stage show in the Saloon.

Kevin eventually moved to Boston and earned a BA in Music from Berklee College of Music, concentrating on Music Production and Music Synthesis. He moved to LA in 1999 and began working with local film composers as a studio tech and piano/guitar peformer on soundtracks while doing tours as the keyboard player for Julia Fordham and Rob Dickenson.

In 2011 Kevin joined the Motion Picture Editors Guild and began working full-time on feature length studio films across all genres.

Where Words Fail, Music Speaks

– Hans Christian Andersen

The first Film Score to make an impression was the original Star Wars soundtrack by John Williams. Having already developed a strong love of orchestral music thanks to Tchaikovky’s 1812 Overture, Beethoven’s 5h Symphony and Holst’s The Planets, the Star Wars Soundtrack was ear candy

Laying on the floor listening to every note of the soundtrack, and then seeing the film and recognizing those pieces of music cemented a love for the marraige of music and moving pictures that lasted a lifetime.

Life is like a piano. What you get out of it depends on how you play it

– Tom Lehrer
